In this book, Andy Stanley offers the most practical and uncensored advice you will ever hear on dating in the 21st century. Andy writes, “If you don’t want a marriage like the majority of marriages, then stop dating like the majority of daters. I have three children, two boys and a girl. I hope. And we did. Why this approach? Well, most boys are introduced to the topic of sex before they are actually interested in sex. Every year or two requires some review and something new.

Stuff Your ‘Rules’
Can the application of science to unravel the biological basis of love complement the traditional, romantic ideal of finding a soul mate? Yet, this apparently obvious assertion is challenged by the intrusion of science into matters of love, including the application of scientific analysis to modern forms of courtship. An increasing number of dating services boast about their use of biological research and genetic testing to better match prospective partners.
Yet, while research continues to disentangle the complex factors that make humans fall in love, the application of this research remains dubious. With the rise of the internet and profound changes in contemporary lifestyles, online dating has gained enormous popularity among aspiring lovers of all ages. Long working hours, increasing mobility and the dissolution of traditional modes of socialization mean that people use chat rooms and professional dating services to find partners.
Online dating, already widespread, was moments away from being normalized. Within a few years, an Old Testament flood of hookup apps would populate most everyone’s rapidly-improving cell phones and all but decimate the demand for a guidebook about how to accost attractive strangers in public. Which is kind of nice! In a vacuum, reading about how to conduct romantic and sexual pursuits without iMessage might be refreshing; instead, Strauss spoils this almost-analog throwback with the worst tbt of all: regressive gender politics!
Despite being a sequel to his classic pickup artist text The Game , Neil Strauss’s Rules of the Game isn’t really a book about sex, dating, or relationships. Though the putative goal of the Rules is to help the reader pick up, succeed with, or otherwise achieve women, the book doesn’t have much to say about women as anything other than an endgame. With that in mind, here are some things Rules of the Game actually is: a time capsule, an RPG and strategy guide, a bog-standard self-help book, a pro-magician propaganda document, a catalyst for the incel community, and a short story collection.
The Stylelife Challenge is part self-help, part tactical guide to hornily approaching strangers, and part fun little worksheet.

But what would we do once we had him? By Taffy Brodesser-Akner. It was the worst of times; just trust me on this. It was a time when the Learning Annex featured seminars on how to find a husband in 30 days, and no kidding this seminar came with a CD to listen to while you slept.
Meeting the right person, getting married, and living happily ever after in a house with a white picket fence, is a dream that invades the minds of most people. While the white picket fence may have gone by the wayside, meeting the right person and living happily ever after has not. But what about Mr. Are we to give up the dream altogether? This week we offer lesson one in this study, and we invite you to participate with us. If you are not in a Bible Study group, find a few friends who have similar needs to yours, and invite them to participate in the study with you.
You just know. Usually before they do. We think we do. But in the end, regardless of how many potential right candidates there are, one and only one is chosen.

Today is a big day in the world of self help books – because The New Rules is out. When it was first published in , dating book The Rules caused a sensation. Mainly because, in it, Ellen Fein and Sherrie Schneider basically told women to forget everything the previous thirty years of feminism had taught them. Really fancy that guy who smiles at you at the bus stop every day?
Want to call that man you had an amazing date with last night?
Okay, maybe not. Last February I decided to try a series or book. So I downloaded the Kindle version and quickly read it. After seeing how incredibly practical the book is, I wanted to get it into the hands of every teenager in our ministry. I appreciate the solid content, and so did our small groups as they watched intently and leaned in to listen. We purchased the four-week small-group DVD set and gave each leader a copy of the book a month in advance. In the back of the book is a small-group video discussion guide.
We asked leaders to read the book, especially focusing on chapters 1, 6, 9, and 10 the chapters the videos address. Our leaders and students loved the reading, teaching, and conversation. This resource was a win for our ministry. You can purchase a copy here. The Pure Sex starter kit is currently on sale here. After hearing the sermon series a few years ago, I bought the sermon series kit from his website; this gave me transcripts, audio, powerpoint, video files, etc, as well as permission to preach the messages and use the series the way Stanley did.
